How fortunate are we, rowers
up with the rhythms of the world,

Who else thrills at the sight of eagles and osprey fishing at dawn?

Who else feels our muscles respond with the lake rushing under us?

Who else feels at one with their body at this hour?

We enter the day with the feeling of water beneath our bow,

We flow into the other parts of our day feeling how fortunate we are.
